Alterations & Returns
Yes! We cover alterations up to the limits found on the Alterations page. While we strive for the perfect fit every time, a small percentage of orders will require adjustments. This can be the case for a number of reasons, most often inaccurate Fit Profile information or simply unique fit preferences. Every SARTORO purchase is backed by our Fit Promise, which includes an alteration credit for each garment.
Alteration reimbursement requests must be submitted within 30 days of receipt of your order. Reimbursement requests submitted after 30 days may not be approved.
For full details on reimbursement requests or to submit a request, please visit our Alterations page.
We back every order with our Fit Promise, which gives you three layers of protection:
-
Alteration Credit – Most sizing tweaks are solved locally. We’ll reimburse you (up to the credit limits for each garment type) when you send us the receipt.
-
Free Remake – If local alterations aren't feasible, we’ll remake the piece at no charge as long as you request the remake within 30 days of receiving the item and provide the photos and adjustment details you'd like.
-
First-Order Returns – On your very first Sartoro order, you may return one garment type (e.g., one suit) if you contact us within 10 days of delivery. Items must be in new condition, with tags, in the original packaging, and shipped back within 30 days of receiving the return label for a full refund.
Important Returns Exclusions: custom-sourced fabrics, custom linings / special design requests, wedding-party/group orders, fabric sample books, and garments made for female body types are not first-order return-eligible, though they’re still covered for alterations and remakes.
In short, we’ll either pay for alterations, remake the garment, or—on your very first order—take it back. Our goal is a perfect fit and a happy you. View our full Alterations & Returns Policy.
We will create and send a prepaid return label to send your garment back to us. This will typically be communicated to you shortly after the remake order has been set up. If you haven’t received this information, please check your spam inbox, or you can reach out to us at team@sartoro.co to let us know.

Order Issues
Haven't received an order confirmation email? Occasionally, depending on your email provider and security settings, these emails may end up in spam. Please check your spam folder, and if it's not there, email team@sartoro.co and we will investigate.
Fit Issues
Something doesn't fit right on your order? You're covered by our Fit Guarantee.
Fit issues on first orders can happen for a number of reasons. Bodies come in many shapes and sizes. Tailoring is an art, not a science - getting it right 100% of the time just isn't possible.
Fortunately, Sartoro offers two ways to handle fit issues (and we cover the cost!):
1. Local Alterations (for minor issues)
Sartoro suits contain excess fabric at the seams, allowing for alterations in both directions. The following diagram indicates how much a suit can be altered. A card with this information was also included with your order.

If the alterations needed are within these limits, please take the garment and the alterations card included with your order to a local dry cleaner in your area (most offer alterations) to have the changes made. We cover up to $65 is alterations for a two-piece suit, $80 for a three-piece suit.
IMPORTANT: high-end Tailor shops often will charge exorbitant rates for simple alterations - often reaching into $150-$200+. Local dry cleaners offering alterations are typically able to do comparable quality work at a fraction of the price. Ensure you receive both a price quote AND confirmation that they will be able to alter the garment to your liking before proceeding. Sartoro will only cover up to the approved alteration limits, which are generally more than enough for most alterations.
If local alterations won't be able to solve the fit issues, proceed to Option #2.
2. Free Remake (for major issues)
In the event local alterations would not solve the fit issue, Sartoro offers free remakes. To request a remake, email team@sartoro.co with the following:
Subject: Order #____ Remake Request
Body: include the following information:
I. Three photos of you wearing the garment/s -- standing with good posture and the top jacket buttoned and fastened. One photo from the front, one from the side, one from the rear.
II. A detailed description of the fit issue.
III. Your best estimate for how much the garment needs to be adjusted in each area to perfect the fit. For example:
- Chest: +1.0"
- Upper Waist: -0.75"
- Belly: -1.5"
- Length: -2.0"
- Sleeve Length: +1.5"
- etc.
A member of our team will review the request and get back to you with next steps. Free standard 3-week shipping is included on all covered remakes. Priority or rush shipping is available for an additional fee.
Important Note: Sartoro will cover alterations OR a remake, not both.
For additional alteration and remake details, as well as the approved alteration limits, visit our Alterations & Remakes page.
Payment Failure
All payments are controlled by secure third-party providers, including Stripe & PayPal. Sartoro does not store credit card information, nor do we determine if a payment is successful or fails.
There are a number of reasons a payment may have failed. Here are a few recommended steps to ensure these are resolved so that you can complete your order:
I. Please carefully review your personal details and credit card information to verify that everything has been entered correctly.
II. Try a different credit card or payment method, such as ShopPay or PayPal.
III. If issues persist, please contact your bank, as your account may have been flagged for security reasons.
For any other issues or questions, please contact us at team@sartoro.co for help.
Order Changes & Cancellations
Can I make a change to my order?
Changes to orders must be submitted within 24 hours. Changes requested after 24 hours may not be possible or may require an additional fee, depending on how far along your order is in the manufacturing process. Please email us at team@sartoro.co to request a change.
Can I cancel my order?
Orders may be canceled within 24 hours. Cancellation requests received after 24 hours may not be accepted, as we have already started manufacturing your order. On a case-by-case basis, we may be able to cancel orders with a fee after 24 hours, but this is usually not possible.
Returns are available on first orders - we offer this so you can try out Sartoro garments risk-free on your first purchase with us!

Issues Logging or Signing Into Your Account
If you're experiencing trouble accessing your Sartoro account, try these troubleshooting steps:
- Clearing your web browser's cache can often fix simple login issues. Make sure to restart your browser after clearing the cache.
- Auto-fill username and password features may cause problems depending on your browser. If you're still having login issues after disabling this feature, try manually entering your information.
- Avoid copying and pasting your login details. Sometimes, extra spaces can accidentally be copied over and prevent logging in.
- If you're still unable to log in, try resetting your password. This will send a password reset link to your email. If you don't receive the email, check your junk folder and spam settings before trying again if necessary.
- Attempt to log in using a different web browser or computer. If you can log in on one device but not another, it may indicate an issue with the unsuccessful device.
If these steps don't solve your login issue, please leave us a message and we'll resolve it for you.

Products & Materials
Fabric Samples
Can I get fabric samples before placing my order?
Yes! Head to the Fabric Samples page to pick out your samples. You can order up to 15 swatches for a nominal fee that can be credited against your garment purchase. Head to the Swatch Book page to browse our fabrics and make your picks. Additional samples beyond the 15 are charged at $1 per swatch.
I can’t find the fabric I've chosen on the site. How do I order?
Not all fabrics we currently carry are viewable on the website in a pre-curated design - to place an order in one of these fabrics, please reach out to us at team@sartoro.co and we’ll provide the steps to place your order.
Can I get samples of your silk satins for ties & accessories?
Yes! We can send out swatches for ties and pocket squares. You would order them the same way as the normal swatches - at the bottom of that product page, there is a special requests area. You would write out the color/s you are interested in and/or then attach a photo example, and our team will put together what we have available that is close to that color.
Sartoro Materials
What are your garments made from?
Our garments are made from a range of materials including wool, cotton & linen. Fabric details are available on each product page in the description. More details below.
Do you have any vegan items?
Yes! Our cotton and linen suits are vegan, as well as all of our shirts. We have vegan linings and vegan canvas available by special request. In your order notes, please write "USE ONLY VEGAN MATERIALS" or message us here to confirm.
Where are your fabrics sourced from?
We source fabrics from many places around the world, including Japan, Korea, China & India, as well as others. Fabric production is largely commoditized and the industry is rampant with misleading practices used by brands to slap the "Italian" or "English" designation on the materials with a technicality. We don't beat around the bush - many of our fabrics are not "Italian milled" from mills dating to the 1800s, but that doesn't mean the quality of what we do offer isn't top notch (it is).
Do your products contain synthetic materials?
This varies from fabric to fabric. In our line of wool suits, we primarily use wool blends with a small amount of polyester. The inclusion of a bit of high-quality synthetic adds considerable durability without a noticeable reduction in the feel, breathability, or appearance.
Synthetics, especially polyester, aren't what they were 10-20 years ago. The technology has improved a great deal, and today, in many ways, a bit of synthetic can actually improve the fabric. A great example of this - most performance golf shirts these days are close to, if not 100% polyester. Breathable, flexible, and quite soft.
Brands selling "premium" 100% wool fabrics will often argue against polyester, which we would have agreed with in 2005 - but today this is outdated thinking. The cost of those "100% Italian milled fabrics" can be substantially higher, resulting in much higher price points with only marginal improvement in quality.
At Sartoro, we've opted to use high-quality wool blends that aren't absurdly pricey because we know we can still deliver a premium product, but don't have to charge $1000+ to do so. You'll see what we mean when you feel the fabrics - they are soft to the touch, look great, and last a long time.
For more information on our materials, please head to the Fabrics & Materials page.
Out Of Stock Garments
The fabric/item I want is out of stock. Can I pre-order?
We don't accept pre-orders for out-of-stock fabrics/garments. However, you can reach out to team@sartoro.co, and we can see what alternatives are available.
How long until out-of-stock items are available again?
Fabrics come and go. One negative consequence of offering many unique styles is that they are not always available forever. If a fabric is unable to be restocked for more than one year, it is removed from the store. Please reach out to us, and we'll see what alternatives we can find.
The Customizations
With more than 12 customizable aspects of a Sartoro suit and over a billion different combinations (seriously), you can create almost anything. We can accommodate customizations beyond our standard options depending on what you’re after. These may be charged at an additional cost depending on the level of difficulty.
Please add a comment in the order notes section in the cart to make your request and we’ll let you know if it’s something we can do!
Custom Fabric Sourcing
I’m looking for a unique fabric or style, can Sartoro help?
Custom fabric sourcing is available by request. Please email us at team@sartoro.co or include your request in the special requests field on the Fabric Samples page.
If we do not carry a fabric that matches your request, we also offer our Sartoro Select service. Pricing is subject to the fabric type and garment design and requires an initial minimum $100 deposit. Head to the Sartoro Select page to schedule an appointment with one of our dedicated stylists for more information or reach out to us at team@sartoro.co with your request.
Caring For Your Sartoro Garments
How do I wash my items?
We recommend dry cleaning all Sartoro clothing. We don't officially recommend this, but you can get away with carefully machine-washing shirts and pants, but be sure to avoid using hot water and high heat. Never machine wash suit jackets or wool coats.
A pro tip for keeping your suit looking fresh without dry cleaning it every time is to invest in a portable steamer. These can be bought online for around $30. The nice thing about steamers, in addition to their convenience, is unlike an iron, there is almost no risk of burning or damaging the fabrics from overheating.
Specific care instructions are listed on the fabric tags of each garment.
Creating A Sartoro Tuxedo
All of our pre-curated suits found on the website can be customized into a tuxedo (with satin accents).
To do this, just view the product page of the suit/fabric you like, then tap “Customize” to open the suit design tool. On the first step, you'll see “Make It A Tuxedo” in the bottom left corner. Tap there to explore the options. We are able to use any satin color you would like for the tuxedo finish.
You can pick your own satin, or leave it up to our design experts to pick the best-matched satin for your chosen fabric - for this optio,n please add a comment in the order notes section in the cart.

Sizing & Measurements
Getting Fitted With Sartoro
At SARTORO, nothing is off the rack. All of our garments are custom-made to order using your unique measurement profile - each starting as a ream of fabric, cut specifically to the measurements we receive and sewn together to the highest level of precision.
Visit our Get Measured page to explore the different measurement options. Our Digital Tailor is the fastest, easiest, and most accurate way to get measured online - it takes as little as 60 seconds!
Fit Guarantee
Every garment we sell is backed by our Fit Guarantee. If anything isn't just how you want it, we'll cover the cost of alterations or remake the garment, free. View the Fit Promise details.
What if I prefer a different type of fit?
We offer three fit options - extra slim, modern slim & classic. These are different from typical "off-the-rack" fit options. Each option (which you'll find when you complete the Digital Tailor) is relative to your body size and affects the garment's "ease" (how much larger the garment is than your body measurements).
For 95% of customers, we recommend choosing Modern Slim for your first order. This slim and flattering cut still affords room for movement and is less prone to having fit issues than Extra Slim. Modifying a garment to make it smaller is also easier than making it larger.
On subsequent orders, you're able to request whatever modifications to the fit that you would like!
Post-Order Measurements Submission
Yes, you can order without submitting your measurements, and we're happy to provide assistance after you order if needed.
Getting measured with us is quite easy with our Digital Tailor. It only takes about a minute, and you don't need a tape measure. However, if you'd like to wait until late, that's fine as well - we can't start an order without a Fit Profile anyway.
Please note that prolonged delays in Sartoro receiving your Fit Profile may affect shipping & delivery times.
Order Reconfirmations
All orders are reviewed internally by our tailors for potential input errors or for measurements that may differ substantially from the averages for your height and weight. We’ll reach out to you via email, SMS, and/or phone call to double-check everything before we get started on your order.
Although not necessary for the majority of orders, the additional information and/or measurements requested help us to build a more comprehensive profile for you, reducing the potential for errors and helping to ensure a great fit right out of the box!
If we’ve reached out to reconfirm your order, please follow the link in the email to provide the information we’ve requested. It should only take a few extra minutes of your time and it’s important to get back to us as soon as possible to avoid any delays with your order.
Measurement Options
We currently have two methods of submitting measurements available within our Digital Tailor:
The core Digital Tailor fitting option is the recommended method and requires just a few inputs to complete. Height, weight, age, pants waist, and shoe size are required, with additional optional inputs including jacket size, sleeve length, and pants inseam.
We'll ask a few other questions to help define your body shape, along with the option for you to add additional notes and measurements at the end.
Alternatively, you can choose Self Measure and follow our video tutorials. If you do choose this method, ensure you have a friend help take the measurements.
If you are having a tailor record these self-measurements for you, please use the list of measurements we require (a PDF is available within the Digital Tailor). All tailor shops measure a little differently, so make sure you have our instructions handy.
Whether you choose the Digital Tailor or Self Measure, our team reviews every order for potential mistakes (we've gotten quite good at catching these. If this happens, we’ll reach out to you to double-check everything before we get started on your order. And either way, you're covered by our Fit Promise.
Although not necessary for the majority of orders, any additional information and/or measurements requested help us to build a more comprehensive profile for you, reducing the potential for errors and helping to ensure a great fit right out of the box!
Full details on creating your unique Fit Profile can be found on the Get Measured page.
The Digital Tailor: All You Need To Know
Fit is the single most important aspect of custom-made clothing and is what elevates this category far beyond it's off-the-rack counterpart. We take getting a perfect fit for you very seriously.
So how does it work? The Digital Tailor is an industry-leading technology that turns a few core pieces of information about your body (height, weight, age, pants waist, shoe size) into a full set of 25+ measurements.
This is accomplished with a robust algorithm, analyzing your inputs against millions of data points and more than 50,000 data body scans. The resulting Fit Profile has an accuracy that rivals getting measured by an in-person tailor (and the Fit is Guaranteed).
What information is needed? Height, weight, age, shoe size, and pants waist are all that is required to create your Fit Profile. There are a number of additional optional fields available to further increase precision.
The Digital Tailor only takes a minute to complete, so it’s important not to guess and to double-check any inputs you may be unsure of -- bad data will impact fit.
Do you have a unique size or shape? Have broad shoulders? Different length arms? Huge forearms? You can let us know at the end of the Digital Tailor and we'll take everything into account when crafting your unique garment patterns.
Create your Fit Profile using the Digital Tailor from the Get Measured page or your cart. More than 85% of all first-time orders fit perfectly right out of the box, and <1% of orders need to be remade (usually due to incorrect inputs) -- so shop confidently knowing you're going to end up with a fantastic custom fit.
A Custom Fit: How Should It Feel?
A slimmer-fitting custom suit can feel snug at first and may take some getting used to, but you'll start to realize how much better you look in it than in an off-the-rack suit. We recommend wearing it around the house just to get used to it and get a few opinions from friends and family. After getting a few compliments, that feeling of snugness will usually start to fade as you get used to the "light hug" of a well-fitted custom suit.
However, if there are fit issues, all orders are covered by our Fit Guarantee. We cover alterations OR will remake the garments for free. Not sure if your garments are in need of alterations? Reach out to us and we'll be happy to help.
Head to the Why Custom page for full details on what sets custom-fitted garments apart.
