Also referred to as the "continental" shoulder, this style falls evenly between roped and unstructured (soft). This style features light padding with a strong, straight line from the collar down to the edge of the shoulder, finished with light "roping" where the sleeve is connected.

Also referred to as the "english shoulder", this style has the most structure, featuring strong padding and a distinctive roped finish where the sleeve connects to the torso. This style is preferable for men with sloped shoulders and those with a less athletic build who are seeking to accentuate the shoulder line.
Soft
A soft or "unstructured" shoulder has no roping and follows the natural, downward slope of the shoulder. This look is often perceived as more casual, though a soft shoulder works well for men with large builds and those with square shoulders. Shoulder pads are still utilized, but the sleeve drapes naturally around the edge.
